Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Full Function Bookkeeper with hands-on experience working within a UK accounting practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing bookkeeping functions across a portfolio of UK clients, ensuring financial records are accurate, up to date and compliant with UK accounting requirements.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident managing bookkeeping from transaction processing through to month-end, working independently and communicating professionally with UK clients and internal accounting teams.

Responsibilities

Manage full-function bookkeeping for UK clients
Process sales and purchase invoices, expenses and other financial transactions
Maintain accurate ledgers and financial records
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare and post journals and adjustments
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare management accounts and financial reports
Maintain accurate debtor and creditor records
Reconcile control accounts and investigate discrepancies
Process VAT transactions and assist with VAT return preparation
Support accountants with year-end accounts and tax preparation
Manage bookkeeping queries and resolve discrepancies
Maintain organised and audit-ready financial records
Communicate with UK clients regarding bookkeeping and financial queries
Work across multiple client accounts and manage competing deadlines
Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines

Required Skills

Essential Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ hands-on bookkeeping experience
Previous experience working for a UK accounting practice is essential
Strong understanding of UK bookkeeping and accounting practices
Experience managing bookkeeping for multiple UK clients
Strong knowledge of VAT and UK financial processes
Experience with bank reconciliations, AP, AR and month-end processes
Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to communicate confidently with UK clients
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Fully remote working capability with a reliable internet connection and professional home-office setup
